Independent Bookstore Day Celebrates independent bookstores nationwide on Saturday, April 30th, with literary parties around the country.

Independent bookstores are worth holding a day-long, nation-wide party for. Chevalier’s Books has been been preparing for the festivities for 76 years! Independent bookstores are cultural hubs, watering holes for thirsty imaginations, a place where you might rub elbows with the literati or witness children raptly listening to a story, where you happen upon new ideas and discoveries, bump into old friends and make new ones — some fictional, others, your neighbors. In these virtual-reality times, the indie bookstore remains an open public space where everyone is free to contemplate, commune and cross-pollinate. Come buzz in Chevalier’s book patch on Saturday, April 30th.
