Dress Code, a New York production company, recently released “Ruben’s Elevator,” a new documentary short film with a local twist.  The film celebrates 75-year-old Ruben Pardo, the oldest manual elevator operator in Los Angeles.  For the last 40 years, Pardo has worked the lift at Miracle Mile’s Wilshire Tower (a.k.a. the Desmond’s/Silverwoods department store building), at 5514 Wilshire Blvd.  Pardo, who takes great pride in his profession, still greets his passengers every day with a smile and friendly conversation as he ferries them to businesses and and offices in the 1929 Art Deco landmark.

The 4-minute film is a quick watch at the Vimeo link above…and a lovely way to brighten your day.
