The conversation about reforming the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is moving quickly, but the city is providing a number of resources to help get (or stay) up to speed on the issue.
Back in March, a series of community discussions on the topic kicked off with a “Making Sense of DWP Reform” seminar, which defined the problem for the audience and allowed the public to hear proposals by Mayor Eric Garcetti, City Councilmember Felipe Fuentes, and City Controller Ron Galperin, along with a panel discussion featuring experts from DWP, the Civic Alliance and Appointed Charter Reform Commission, and the Neighborhood Council DWP MOU Oversight Committee.
If you missed that session, or a more recent community meeting on the topic last week in south L.A., a detailed report of the March event is now available online, including video, photos and text.
For even more information, the L.A. City Council has launched a comprehensive website – http://dwpreform.lacity.org/ – that contains background materials, documents and committee hearing podcasts on DWP reform…
…and the City Council Committee on Rules, Elections, Intergovernmental Relations and Neighborhoods has provided an easy-to-read fact-sheet on the topic.
