Tonight: Councilmember LaBonge Invites Community to a Gathering in Honor of Huell Howser at Sunset

2014-01-06

Please join Councilmember Tom LaBonge and Council District Four staff for a community gathering in honor and in remembrance of Huell Howser. As a past resident of Hancock Park, Howser served as the longtime host of “California’s Gold,” the public television show on California places and people. All members of the public are invited to gather at Griffith Observatory to enjoy the sunset in honor and in remembrance of our late, great friend, Huell.

“As the sun sets over our beautiful city, let us remember Huell for his tremendous enthusiasm for California landmarks like the Griffith Observatory. What better way than to celebrate the life of a longtime icon and Angeleno.” – Tom LaBonge

On January 7, 2013, Howser died at the age of 67 at his Palm Springs home. He had been battling cancer for several years. When in Los Angeles, he had lived in the El Royale Apartments.

Mary has lived in the Hancock Park area for over 20 years - including homes in Larchmont Village and Windsor Square. Mary has lived in some great places in her life - but none compare to the convenience and majesty of our neighborhood. For Mary, the neighborhood has been a wonderful home to her large, extended family...at one time she had family members living on seven different Hancock Park area blocks! Larchmont Buzz is a labor of love - built to celebrate the neighborhood and to elevate the conversation in the area.
