International Food and Drink Zester Daily Website is Locally Grown

Windsor Square resident Corie Brown is the genius behind Zester Daily

If you are even a mild ‘foodie’ and you haven’t checked out Zester Daily yet – it’s time. The food and drink website  is an international smorgasbord co-founded and managed by acclaimed food writer and Windsor Square resident Corie Brown.

Now thriving for three years as a collective of journalists of food, wine and travel enthusiasts online, Zester describes itself as promoting a “… spirited, intelligent dialogue about what we eat and drink — a critical step toward establishing a more healthful, environmentally sustainable and just food culture.”  They do this with contributions from over 50 writers who are professional journalists or food book authors, and a staff of seven paid editors.

“It’s like a specialty store,” Corie Brown told the Buzz in a recent phone interview. “You don’t know what you’re going to find – but when you find something that gives you pleasure, you come back in for more.”

The site has been redesigned as of early June and is a joy to jump on and explore – just be ready to get caught up in fascinating articles that can absorb you for an hour or more. Zester doesn’t do restaurant reviews but may interview a chef, it does rate wines as well as take you deep into a vineyard. Best of all, there is a whole section to explore under RECIPES that will make your mouth water and want to head to the kitchen to try your hand.

Brown, who lives with her husband Chris Fager on South Lorraine and is mother to two college-aged children, has been an active part of the Larchmont area community for 16 years. Her children attended St James for elementary school and she’s served on the Board of Trustees there. The kids moved on to Marlborough and Campbell Hall before both joining Colgate University in New York.

Brown’s favorite local food dives are Girasole, Petite Greek, Lou (now Bosc), Osteria Mama and of course the sandwiches at Larchmont Wine and Cheese. But they explore many of the finer establishments in the area. “Even at really good restaurants, Chris and I love to saunter in without a reservation and just order from the bar,” Brown shared. “It’s a great way to eat well on the spur of the moment.”

So sit down with your cup of coffee and your laptop if you have a minute, and check into Zester Daily. Just don’t do it on an empty stomach – you’ll be ravenous by the time you taste even a small portion of their offerings.

  1. Great site — nice to know it’s been re-designed. The link didn’t go thru directly though but I still got there.
