Last week I was fortunate enough to sample a couple of the restaurants that will be featured in the Sunset and Dine festival on September 24th right in our backyards, at the Buzzfeed Motion Pictures space on Vine St. This is the fourth annual Sunset and Dine festival which is put on by the Central Hollywood Coalition, the non-profit board that manages the Sunset & Vine Business Improvement District. The evening is meant to bring together the Hollywood community with delicious bites and drinks. Tickets are only $25 for adults and children under 12 can attend for free.
My first stop was St. Felix which is known for its cocktails. I tried the Desperado which is served in a martini glass and garnished with mint and bell pepper. This tequila cocktail is thick in the best way with fresh pressed tangerines and limes. It has a little spicy kick to it that is balanced with the sweetness from the fruit. It was the first time I had tried a cocktail with bell pepper but it worked well with the tequila and wasn’t overpowering in flavor.
St. Felix is a fun spot to stop by for a cocktail with a floor-to-ceiling wall full of different types of alcohol. The space is dimly lit with oversized chandeliers and ample seating.
Next we went to Farmer’s Belly, a healthy and affordable café located right off of Vine St. Farmer’s Belly is owned by a husband and wife team who started cooking their organic fare in a food truck and recently moved into their brick and mortar space serving breakfast and lunch 7 days a week. We started with a sampler of their Mini Blue Cheese Master Burger, Mini Chicken Pesto Panini and their Mini Farmers Salad. The salad was refreshing and the burger was juicy. You could tell that the pesto on the panini was definitely made in house. This was followed by their Organic Mary’s Farm’s Roasted Chicken with Organic Harvested Grains and Organic Mixed Vegetables. This dish was healthy and filling. Lastly, we sampled a couple of freshly baked tarts and cakes featuring seasonal fruits. Farmer’s Belly also offers espresso and cold brewed iced tea.
