Are You Ready to Shake Out?

On Thursday, October 18, you can join the millions of Californians who will “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” in The Great California ShakeOut, the largest earthquake drill ever.  The event, held on the third Thursday in October each year, provides individuals, families, businesses, schools, government agencies, community groups, and other organizations a chance to practice how to protect ourselves, and for everyone to become prepared. The goal is to prevent disasters from becoming catastrophes.

“Drop, Cover, and Hold On” drills are important because disaster can strike quickly and to respond quickly you must practice often. You may only have seconds to protect yourself in an earthquake before strong shaking knocks you down, or something falls on you.

For more preparedness information, see http://www.earthquakecountry.org or this flier.  You can register to participate in a Great California ShakeOut event at Shakeout.org.
