It’s almost the end of summer and the Friday Night Wine Tasting at Barnsdall Park are only running three more weeks!
A great place to gather with friends or family, the gated green of the West Lawn of the historic Hollyhock House at Barnsdall Park is the setting for the Friday Night Wine Tasting. Silverlake Wine pours four selections of boutique artisinal wines from around the world, and you can bring your own picnic or find food from one of the many food trucks parked nearby. Â There’s even an option to pre-order food from SayCheese when you order your tickets.
A real bonus for this year’s Wine Tasting are the docent-led tours of the Hollyhock House, which are offered for an additional $12/person for tour.)  Built between 1919 – 1921 for Aline Barnsdall, a patron of the arts at the time, Hollyhock House was the first Los Angeles commission for the legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright.  Construction was supervised by Wright’s son Lloyd Wright. Unfortunately, due to intense differences between Wright and Barnsdall, only three buildings of the artists colony atop Olive Hill were constructed, and Barnsdall rarely lived in her residence which she donated to the City of Los Angeles for use as an art park in 1927.
Tickets for this weekend are sold out, so plan ahead and purchase tickets for a future weekend soon if you want to see the interior of the Hollyhock House, along with the wine and sunset.
