Brookside resident and one of LA’s favorite chefs, Mark Peel will be doing a special ‘chef jam’ with his friend, Larchmont resident and one of the owners of local favorite, Marino’s Ristorante on Melrose, Sal Marino. This culinary event takes place for two weekends at Marino’s West LA restaurant, Il Grano.

Peel and Marino bonded years ago as they trolled the farmers’ markets, but the friendship was clinched when their daughters attended local Wagon Wheel Pre-school together. The two recently did a TV cooking show and this idea for a joint event was born. Peel says, “we are neighborhood friends, our families get together, our kids play. Sal and I have never cooked together before. This is a situation we needed to rectify.”

Luckily for us, the two will come together for two weekends – February 21 & 22; and February 28 & March 1 – when the crew at Il Grano will only serve dishes from a carte the two call ‘An Early Spring Menu’.

Since Campanille closed, Peel has cooked for the public very little. He is looking forward to teaming up with his friend on his turf. “He is a brilliant and natural chef,” said Peel about Marino. “Il Grano is where I took my wife for our anniversary last year. I’m excited to get in there.”

It’s $75 for the 4 courses. Wine pairing is additional. And reservations are recommended!  See info below…
