Riding the LA River in First-Ever Race

Kayak LA river

Here’s something you you haven’t probably done before: race down the LA River in your kayak or paddleboard.

In the first-ever event of its kind, LA River Expeditions is sponsoring the LA River Boat Race on August 30, 2014 along the newly-opened recreational zone of the LA River in Elysian Valley, one of the greenest sections of the river.

The water course has been set up for two events: one for kayak racers and the other for those on stand up paddleboards. Both races will wind down a 3/4 stretch of the Glendale Narrows, challenging riders to round the buoys and shoot the rapids like the real pros.

Bring your own equipment or rent from the organizers but sign-up is essential, space is limited and donations are encouraged.
