Sycamore Square Shooting: Community Meeting this Tuesday

LAPD Community Meeting: Tuesday, July 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Wilshire Ebell Theatre

This Tuesday evening, LAPD will conduct a community meeting regarding the Sycamore Square shooting that occurred Tuesday, July 9th in the Mid-Wilshire area.

“The intent is to foster conversation with Community members and leaders that will provide answers and information regarding this incident. Also, to address Community concerns that have arisen from this incident,” wrote Captain Howard Leslie, Commanding Officer of Wilshire Area in an invitation to community leaders.  Other LAPD leadership will be there including Deputy Chief Girmala, Commanding Officer of West Bureau.

On July 9th officers responded to reports of a man vandalizing windows with a skateboard in Sycamore Square. In the struggle with officers, the man was shot and later died. The incident was reported in the Buzz and the Los Angeles Times.

The meeting will be at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14. The Wilshire Ebell Theatre is located at the corner of Lucerne and 8th street, just south of Wilshire Blvd.
