Local Music – Time to Get on it!

Living in our area presents lots of opportunities for adding live music to your summer “to-do” list. Here’s some suggestions for a few we think you should catch…

Tennis at the El Rey on August 12th – tickets available now!

Tennis is a Denver based indie pop group comprised of husband and wife duo Patrick Riley (guitar) and Alaina Moore (vocals), and drummer James Barone. We were just introduced to this group and haven’t been able to stop listening to their new album, Young and Old (2012). Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney worked with the band to produce this great sophomore effort.

Tickets are available on Ticketmaster at $20 each, plus service fee – or you can stop by The El Rey and buy tickets early one evening when the box office is open. We will see you there!

Regina Spektor at The Greek Theater on August 14th – tickets on sale now!

Singer/Songwriter Regina Spektor will be at The Greek Theater in less than a month. Spektor is touring in support of her latest album What We Saw From the Cheap Seats (2012) and the evening promises to be a great chance to enjoy an artist who is taking her craft to the next level. Spektor will be appearing in LA just a day or so after her appearance at the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco.

Tickets are available here…$55.75 each, plus service fees.

The XX at the Hollywood Palladium on October 12th – pre-sale Thursday July 19th, 10a-10p CODE – microphone

The XX is an atmospheric indie pop group whose first album, The XX (2009), won the coveted British Mercury Prize in 2010. They sold out the Music Box for July 23rd.  It was announced this week that they are adding an October 12th date at The Hollywood Palladium – a 4,000 capacity venue.

Get to pre-sale here. Tickets are $38.50, plus service fees.

If you miss the pre-sale, tickets go on sale to General Public via Ticketmaster on Friday, July 20th – or you can stop by the box office on Saturday from 10a-2p and save the fees.

Two Door Cinema Club at The Hollywood Palladium on October 25th – pre-sale Thursday, July 19th – CODE – microphone

This band from Northern Ireland is a lot of fun…love their electronic beats and I think they would be great fun to see live. Their debut album Tourist History (2010) is worth checking out if you don’t know them already.

Tickets are available here at 10a on Thursday…$29.50 each, plus service fees.

If you have Spotify, you can sample these 4 artists/groups below…give them a listen and then get on it!

Go on…put some local music into your life!
