Behind the Ears: Hiking Runyon Canyon from a Dog’s Perspective

| January 16, 2013 | 1 Comment

With many of us resolving to get outside more in this new year and get in shape, we’ve found just the inspiration: a short video from a short four-legged firend, Riley, the Corgy, via his owner Zachary Johnson

Shot from a Go-Pro camera mounted on the dog’s collar, the quick hike up the steep, east trail at Runyon is a delight. Not that much happens,  but scampering over the rocks and up the tight path takes on new meaning from a dog’s perspective.

For those of you unfamiliar with Runyon, this trail is the straight-up the mountain route.  There is also a much more leisurely route on a wide, graded incline, that will also get you there, with more mileage and less up hill.

Many hikers were dismayed to see the benches up top have been removed. But no worries, they are being replaced by the City and new, safer benches will soon be available to take in the views. And catch your breath.
