Downtown Los Angeles blogger (DowntownnBoomer.com) and former Hancock Park residents Mary and Jay Fagnano are currently in the Dominican Republic on a mission of love, generosity and honor.
Follow them on their journey to the DR as they take on a challenge that was important to their son Nick, who was killed on July 27th at Venice Beach in a freak lightning strike. Nick loved baseball and held a baseball equipment drive for the children of the Dominican when he was 13. This trip honors Nick and some of the things that were most important to him. For those who know Nick, it’s hard to think of a more appropriate way to share his goodness and help kids who need some of his support.
The Fagnanos are in the Domincan Republic with a group of friends/volunteers. They brought 30 computers with them to install in an orphanage/school; 18 baseball gloves donated by players on the Notre Dame High School baseball team; and money (much of it donated by the St. Brendan School community) to use once they arrived…determining what can best help the young children with whom Nick felt such a strong bond.
