Larchmont Village Welcomes Two Art Galleries

Street-scene

The face of Larchmont Boulevard continues to change as two galleries open to bring our small-town business district something that has been sorely missing: ART.

marcie bronkar The Art Salon at Marcie Bronkar, 128 1/2  North Larchmont Blvd, was formerly the home of Marcie Bronkar Design. Native to New York, Marcie Bronkar always dreamed of  opening a gallery to “showcase California artists at reasonable prices” and brought it to reality this month on the boulevard.

Bronkar moved her design business out of the east side storefront (she still runs it out of another office in Hancock Park) and brought in “plein air” landscape oils and bird studies by Elizabeth Tucker, and abstract dry pastels by M. Vesel. The work is elegant,  framed (so wall-ready) and enticing to window shoppers who can drop in  between the hours of 11 am – 6pm, Wed  – Sunday beginning in June, or call for an appointment at 323-957-5121. Future shows will include other painters and a photography exhibit in late summer.

Up in NOLA (North Larchmont) the Loft at Larchmont is a gallery and healing arts center. One flight up on the corner of Larchmont and Melrose (at 5500 Larchmont Blvd, #201) the Loft is showing artist Justin Davanzo‘s current black and white photography, titled “The Larchmont Project.”

In his show, Davanzo explored Larchmont with a keen eye for oft-overlooked details that we may pass by daily but fail to notice: the wooden matchstick facade on the Larchmont Medical Building, or the Astro Burger sign juxtaposed against the Paramount backdrop. Larchmont Loft owner Michelle Goland hosts three art shows a year in her modern loft space in addition to yoga classes and other programs to improve both mind and body.

This Saturday, May  11th the Loft at Larchmont will be hosting a reception for the artist Davanzo, including music, food, drinks and close up views of his tasty Larchmont exhibit. RSVP to Joanie at 310-729-6168 for the party, or to see the gallery during other hours.
