Avoid Third Street: Resurfacing Rossmore East to Irving

Third Street Larchmont Village

Third Street  between Rossmore and Irving is scheduled for resurfacing in April, and the Bureau of Street Services began scraping the southernmost lane on Thursday, creating a slowing of traffic and clouds of dust in the air as autos bumped along the rugged surface.

According to the Bureau of Street Services (BSS), the City began profiling the street yesterday – cutting 2 inches off the top layer – and this work will continue through the weekend to Monday of next week (April 14th) with lanes closed at time and traffic slowed considerably.  Third should remain open all next week but will be dusty and slow-going. BSS expects to send a street sweeper on the road periodically to try to keep dust levels down.

Third St will be closed down all day Saturday, April 19th, for repaving so avoid the route completely that day. On Sunday it will open again providing smooth access again for residents out for Easter activities.
