Vote

On Wednesday,  City Clerk Holly L. Wolcott announced that the Official Canvass of the March 3, 2015 Primary Nominating Election had begun. CD 4 candidate David Ryu has a slim 61 vote lead over Tomas O’Grady. Ryu is hoping his lead will hold and put him in the May 19 runoff with Carolyn Ramsay, who won the most votes.

The City Charter requires that all Vote-By-Mail (VBM) and provisional ballots not included in the final election night results be counted as well as an audit of all the results be completed with 21 days of the election (on or before March 24, 2015).  The process is open to the media, candidates, and the public and will take place at Piper Technical Center, Space 375, located at 555 Ramirez Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012.

CD4-candidatesNext week, on March 10, 2015,  the City Clerk will count one percent of the ballots randomly selected from all precincts. This process involves hand counting these ballots and comparing the hand count results with the computer tallied results to verify the accuracy of the City’s ballot tabulation equipment.

The final tally of Provisional and VBM ballots will be included in the certified results which will be issued no later than Tuesday, March 24, 2015, in accordance with the City’s Election Code. The preliminary election results can be found online.
