Larchmont Village will be getting a new high-end retailer that appears on some of the most tony streets around the world including St Germain Paris, Madison Avenue New York, Maiden Lane in San Francisco and Brook Street London. The french retailer diptyque will offer scented candles, home and personal fragrances and body care products favored by exclusive clientele worldwide. The new boutique is leasing the space at 202 N. Larchmont where Fluxus recently closed shop.
Originating in 1961 on the Boulevard Saint Germain in Paris as a collaboration of three friends who offered elegant and “surprising” home decor objects to Parisians, diptyque has evolved into a sort of perfumery with its elegant scented candles the most popular sales item.
“We’ll have a full offering of the brand on Larchmont,” Â diptyque’s PR rep Daniel Tyson told the Buzz from New York. “It is our first diptyque store in Los Angeles and we’re hoping for a mid-November opening.”
“Ever since the very first boutique, diptyque has liked to be off the beaten track – the surprise hidden treasure that people find, then come to seek out,” Tyson continued. “Larchmont Boulevard is a perfect location for this.”
The company is also opening boutiques this fall in Soho, South Coast Plaza and Westport Connecticut. “Diptyque will be doing a custom design for the Larchmont store,” Tyson told the Buzz. “We’ll mix the heritage style of the original Parisian boutique with a modern update.”
