Hancock Park Traffic Alert: First Lady Obama in Fremont Place

Michelle Obama Fremont Place Democratic Fundraiser
The intersection of Wilshire Blvd and Rossmore may see a traffic jam today as Michelle Obama visits for a Democratic fundraiser.

First Lady Michelle Obama will be visiting Fremont Place this afternoon for a Democratic Fundraiser hosted by Phil Rosenthal and Monica Horan. Traffic may be backed up along Wilshire Blvd and Rossmore at the entrance of gated Fremont Place due to patrons attending the event, as well as a protest by citizens who oppose the Trade Authority “Fast Tracking” bill introduced in Congress several weeks ago.

According to the protesters’ Facebook page, Stop TPP Fast Track, the protesters are bringing signs and making noise with pots and pans as the First Lady arrives on the scene.  As many as four television stations may be on hand, no doubt causing further traffic havoc. According to Laura Steiner on the Stop TPP Fast Track Facebook page, “And remember, we are not protesting Michelle Obama. We’re protesting the TPP. We LOVE the First Lady just like the rest of the TV audience. We just want her to talk some sense into her husband, that’s all.”

The event will take place from 4-5:30 pm, but expect traffic delays in the area perhaps between 3 pm and 7 pm this evening.
