Larchmont Village area neighbors woke up this morning to rain and the sound of thunder today. The welcome rain, unusual for July, is courtesy of tropical storm Delores located off the coast and moving northeast. The lighting and loud cracks of thunder are a bit less welcome though! Below is a video taken this morning in a Fremont Place backyard of lighting followed by a disturbingly crack of thunder.

Dolores is expected to bring showers or thunderstorms throughout the weekend. This morning, the National Weather service issued a warning to residents to stay off the beaches and take shelter until a band of thunderstorms moving northeast through Los Angeles county between Palos Verdes and Malibu passes.

Just as quickly as the rain came, it passed through and the skies cleared. Though, the National Weather Service advises residents to keep a close watch on the sky as the weather system is expected to affect the city all weekend.
