A pickup truck smashed through the front door of Osteria Mozza on Highland and Melrose mid-day on Saturday, April 18th injuring one employee on site. The restaurant, on the busy southwest corner of the intersection, was not yet open for business. The Mozza employee was taken to the hospital but injuries were reportedly not life-threatening.

The front entrance of the popular restaurant, owned by chefs Nancy Silverton and Mario Batali, was destroyed in the crash and required a visit from Building & Safety to make sure the structure was still stable. The restaurant was subsequently closed for the remainder of the day after the 12:45 pm accident.
