(This story was updated at 9:30 p.m. to include additional information.) The City Clerk’s office released an informational update  earlier today that shows David Ryu’s lead over Tomas O’Grady increased to 159 votes. Carolyn Ramsay continues to lead with 159 vote lead over Ryu.

LA City Council candidates, Carolyn Ramsay and David Ryu are not waiting for the city to certify the election results. The top two candidates in the CD 4 race are off and running their efforts to win the May 19 runoff to replace Councilman Tom LaBonge who is termed out.  Both campaigns are busy gathering endorsements from key city leaders and former competitors from the primary.

Ramsay started the week with a press event announcing the endorsement of City Council President, Herb Wesson.  The next day, she tweeted her thanks to Fred Mariscal, former candidate and Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council board member for his support.

“Carolyn knows the District well, and will work tirelessly to restore the trust and faith of the residents of Los Angeles in City government,” said Mariscal in a statement released on Monday. “I ask all voters to tune into this extraordinary opportunity to elect a smart and talented woman to serve all of us in the far-reaching and diverse 4th District here in the heart of the city.”

On Wednesday evening Ramsay tweeted, “Proud to announce the support of Senator Bob Hertzberg- 1 of the Valley’s most influential civic leaders.”

David Ryu  won the endorsement of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party according to the Los Angeles Times.

“I am excited that our campaign is attracting new supporters in our fight to put neighborhood voices first at City Hall,” Ryu said in a written statement Wednesday reacting to the endorsement, reported the Times.

The Democratic party had supported candidate Steve Veres in the primary.
