Recent Crimes in Wilshire and Olympic Divisions

Larchmont Village crime

A summary of recent crimes in the area, including the Wilshire and Olympic Divisions of the LAPD.

Olympic Division Senior Lead Officer Joseph Pelayo reports that there continue to be “clusters” of burglaries in the Larchmont Village area with six burglaries in the past eight weeks, many on Gower St and Vista Court. “Over half of burglaries in our area occur when people leave windows open and doors unlocked,” Pelayo told the Buzz, reminding us all to be particularly vigilant now that warm weather has us opening our homes to the pleasant temperatures with sometimes unpleasant consequences.

A shooting took place on March 8th at 1:35 am on Country Club Drive between Norton Ave and Bronson. Detective Steven Katz told the Buzz that two Hispanic victims were on the sidewalk mid-way between Norton and Bronson and were confronted by several Hispanic suspects who shot them. Both victims were transported to the hospital where one Hispanic victim died. The shooting is believed to be due to an altercation between the men, and could be gang related. If you witnessed anything possibly related to this incident please telephone the West Bureau 213-382-9470. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477)
