Neighbors were awakened by the sound of police helicopters hovering over Windsor Village early Thursday morning.  At 4:38am police responded to emergency calls of a fatal road rage incident involving at least three vehicles.  When they arrived on the scene one man had been critically injured and later died in what police are describing as a violent traffic altercation with multiple suspects near the intersection of Victoria Avenue and Olympic Boulevard.

According to Senior Lead Officer Hebel Rodriguez, the victim was being by followed by three vehicles and apparently stopped to confront the drivers of the other vehicles. The other drivers may have attacked him or  he may have been hit by one of the cars fleeing the scene. Police helicopters circling overheard spotted one of the suspected drivers and homicide detectives are interviewing the individual.

“This was an isolated incident, none of these individuals live in the area,” Officer Rodriguez told the Buzz Thursday afternoon.  Earlier rumors of a violent carjacking are not true, he added.  “This was road rage between two parties who happened to stop along Olympic Blvd,” said Rodriguez. “It’s tragic that someone lost their life, but the neighborhood is still very safe.”
