Street Repairs – Help Get the Worst Streets Fixed

Bad-streets

Do you know of a stretch of street in the neighborhood that really needs fixing? Now’s the time to act.

The Bureau of Street Services (BSS) will be kicking off the new year by conducting a “Neighborhood Council Initiative” to identify and perform small repairs on our needy neighborhood streets. On January 9, 2015, a Small Asphalt Repair truck is scheduled to be in the Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council area to perform repairs to the roadway, curbs, and sidewalks, weather permitting.

The repairs will be limited to just 15 addresses, so the GWNC will try to prioritize which areas to fix given input from the greater Wilshire public. You can submit your nomination for most-needed repair by sending an email to the GWNC Transportation Committee with the address and description of repairs needed, and share a photo of the troubled spot if possible.

All nominations must be submitted by Friday, January 2, 2015.

The GWNC is also encouraging the creation of separate Transportation and Streets Committees within each neighborhood association, to review LA’s Draft Mobility Plan 2035 and determine its impact on each neighborhood. The Committees could address transportation and street-related items, including but not limited to the effects of Metro construction, BRT issues, sidewalk and street repairs, traffic safety, etc. If your neighborhood association wishes to create such a committee, the GWNC asks that you contact the GWNC Transportation Committee for more information and to coordinate.

  1. really – just 15 addresses? For all of Greater Wilshire? This seems like a shameful taunt rather than an attempt to address the issue of street repair.
