Usually behind the camera, Brookside resident and casting director Heidi Levitt is the “star” of a newly released video produced by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.  In the video, Levitt tells the story of casting the feature film The Artist,  winner of the 2011 Academy Award for Best Picture.
“I wanted to tell the story of the process of casting the film,” said Levitt.
Levitt told the Buzz the video is part of an oral  history series undertaken by the Academy to interview different members of the Academy to showcase their role in making movies, especially those less well known to the public, such as casting directors.
While there isn’t currently an Oscar for casting, Levitt appreciates the efforts by the Academy to showcase the work of her branch of the Academy. Her video will soon be added to the Academy website along with others in the series, which provide insight into the diversity of Academy members. Click here to view Levitt’s video on the Academy’s YouTube channel.
