Hancock Park resident Jon Vein will be attending the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia as a delegate for Presidential candidate Hilary Clinton. Vein won the spot earlier this month at the California Democratic party convention, where he was elected one of seven delegates representing the 33rd Congressional District pledged to Mrs. Clinton. The delegates are all hoping to attend the July 27-28 convention but not all seven will be able to vote for Mrs. Clinton. Vein is most likely assured a spot once the delegates are divvied up after the June 7 primary results, because received the highest number of votes in the district.

Vein told us the secret to his success was likely that he “worked the room,” talking to all those who came out to vote.

“I talked to everyone,  told them about my background and my involvement in the Clinton campaign,” said Vein. In addition to serving on Clinton’s national finance committee, Vein hosted a fundraiser for Mrs. Clinton at his home earlier this year and spent time working on the campaign in Florida, Iowa and New York.

“It’s pretty exciting,” said Vein. “I’m committed to getting her elected. I think it will be an historic event.”

Vein recently sold his company, Marketshare, freeing him up to spend even more  time on civic affairs. Vein was appointed to the Convention Center and Tourism Board by Eric Garcetti, and was elected President of that group. Vein is also active in the Hancock Park Homeowners Association.
