Pediatrician Neville Anderson Moves Back Home to Larchmont

If it takes a village to raise a child, then Larchmont Village just got even better for families. Windsor Square native and pediatrician Neville Anderson has moved into the Larchmont Medical Building to work with children from birth to 21 years old.

“I have quite a few teenage patients who plan to move with me to this new location,” Anderson told the Larchmont Buzz in an interview in her spacious office set to open April 2, 2014. ” I love having a good relationship with and being an advocate for teens who need help or want someone to talk to other than their parents. I can be their trusted adult. I often give them the office number and encourage them to put it in their phones so that they can call me themselves if they need to talk to me.”

When it comes to the young toddlers and tykes who seem to be picking up colds and fevers faster than can be imagined, Anderson also offers same-day sick visits. She also encourages the patients’ parents to call her before making an expensive and exhausting trip to the ER.

Neville-Anderson-Pediatrics“I’m hoping the young families who live in the Larchmont area will find me. I love seeing pregnant women before the baby is even born, and then working with the family unit as they grow,” Anderson shared. “Getting to see new parents with their two week old babies – there’s nothing quite like it,” she said with a smile.

Anderson practices the biological psycho-social model: health is related to both the physical cellular structure of the body, but also to the psycho/social development of the child as a whole, believing it is the entire package of influences that affects the good or bad health of a person.

Raised in the neighborhood (Lorraine and Third), Anderson attended school at St. James, Marlborough, Stanford and University of Rochester.  Anderson’s mother was a neighborhood girl who went to Marlborough, her maternal grandparents grew up locally and even her great-grandmother lived in the area and attended Marlborough.

With such a history in the ‘hood, it is not surprising that Anderson’s dream has long been to open her own pediatric practice on Larchmont Boulevard. She worked with a multi-specialty group of nine pediatricians in La Canada for seven and a half years, seeing first-hand how the business side of doctoring works, before making her move home to Larchmont. “I’m a doctor, not a businesswoman, so it’s a little scary,” she told the Larchmont Buzz. “But when this space opened up, it seemed the right time.” The space is a 1300 square foot penthouse suite with four exam rooms and wonderful views north over Larchmont Village all the way up to the iconic Hollywood sign.

Dr. Anderson encourages new families to come in for a free “Meet the Doctor” appointment. She expects to soon be on staff at Cedars Sinai Hospital, is setting up a state-of-the-art electronic system for parents to  schedule appointments and see medical records and reports. Of course, old-school telephone calls to the office receptionist, nurse and doctor are also offered.

“Being a doctor is a real privilege,” Neville told the Buzz. “People open up and are honest with you and you owe them the best care you can offer.”
