An Inside Look at the Hollywood Walk of Fame

CNN got behind the scenes with the people who make the Hollywood Walk of Fame the tourist magnate that it is. This is a fun peek into one of our local tourist destinations.

CNN – Behind the Scenes of the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Having worked in a variety of office buildings in Hollywood over the years…I have a pretty intimate feel for what the Walk means to everyday people. For many, seeing the star of someone they admire is akin to having seen the celebrity themselves. The star is a destination – and for the most part gets a lot of attention on the day the celebrity is there for the unveiling and on the day the celebrity passes away. Within minutes of a celebrity death, fans decorate the star with flowers, candles, cards, signs – and the news trucks use the star for a background shot in setting up their “obituary package” about the life and death of that individual. It’s all very surreal.

Would you want your picture taken with any particular star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? Maybe the set of stars outside of Capitol Records?

In case you don’t go to the CNN article – you might want to check out this video about the craftsmanship involved in the process of setting a new star…
