Injured Hawk Rescued with the Help of Neighbors, Twitter and LA Animal Control

Larchmont Village neighbors came together around 5:30p Tuesday when local Windsor Boulevard neighbor Ana Garcia discovered an injured hawk on the ground and tweeted a picture asking for help.

Ana quickly got advice and the folks at Animal Control told her to move the injured bird into a tub.

Cooper’s Hawks are medium sized birds of prey. Their life span in the wild can be as long as 12 years.

 

The Larchmont Village neighbors came together and in the space of a couple of hours did what they could to give this majestic bird a fighting chance at recovery.

The power of twitter – opening Ana’s world up by allowing her to tap into her 2,300 followers for advice…

…and connecting her to neighbors right on her street who offered on site help. Lucky bird!!

It looks like this happy hawk will be back protecting the neighborhood from rodents and such later this week! Thanks to Ana, David, Stephanie and LA Animal Control for coming together and saving him.
