The Willows Community School is proud to present an evening with New York Times Book Critic and Bestselling Author, Jennifer Senior, on November 15th at 7:00 p.m. The talk, based on her book entitled “All Joy and No Fun: the Paradox of Modern Parenthood” will be held at the school, located at 8509 Higuera Street, Culver City, CA 90232.
Ms. Senior’s talk will explore questions such as, “Why do so many people experience parenthood as a kind of crisis?” and “What exactly do parents find so challenging?” Much has been written about how parents affect their children, but how do children affect their parents? Ms. Senior tackles that specific issue of how children affect their parents and reshape their lives. She points out that changes in the last half-century have altered the roles of mothers and fathers, making them more complex. Drawing from research in history, sociology, economics, psychology and more, Senior investigates why parents are so stressed, and provides guidance, reassurance, and inspiration.
