Applications Open for Summer Civic Youth Leadership Academy

Young Angelenos, ages 14-24, who are interested in civic issues and activism, are invited to apply for the third year of Los Angeles’ Civic Youth Leadership Academy.

Civic Youth is a summer program designed to educate, engage, and empower young people to take an active role in their communities and to speak up on issues that matter to them. These civic leaders will be prepared to actively participate in their Neighborhood Councils and across the greater Los Angeles community with other like-minded young people from across the City.

After gaining knowledge of local government and skills in effective outreach and community organizing, Civic Youth graduates will be prepared to run for board seats in the upcoming 2019 Neighborhood Council Elections.

Six sessions will be held on Monday mornings this summer, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at City Hall in downtown Los Angeles.  Dates are June 18th & 25th, July 16th, 23rd & 30th…and August 6 (which will be a culmination ceremony).

Interested youth and young adults can apply at http://empowerLA.org/CivicYouth/CYLA/. Applications must be submitted by Thursday, May 31st. For more information, contact [email protected]
