Attempted Home Invasion in Windsor Square

Windsor Square residents were warned to be vigilant following an attempted home invasions robbery on Monday.

This week, the Windsor Square Association sent an alert to all residents urging vigilance in the neighborhood after a two suspects attempted a home invasion robbery on Monday at 11 a.m. on the 100 block of North Plymouth Blvd. Fortunately, the perpetrators left the scene when confronted by the homeowner, and no one was injured. According to SSA Security, a similar incident occurred on Norton Avenue several days earlier.

LAPD Senior Lead Office Joe Pelayo and SSA Security have both confirmed the incidents, though it is not clear if they are connected. Residents are urged to be report any suspicious activity “such as fully covered (clothed, hatted, masked) individuals venturing into a neighbor’s yard” to LAPD.

The association shared its message to residents with the Buzz:

“We are writing to make you aware of an attempted home invasion that occurred this past Monday, August 22, 2022, at 11 AM on the 100 block of North Plymouth Boulevard. Our Senior Lead LAPD Officer Joe Pelayo has confirmed the incident. SSA has also issued a “Be On the Lookout” alert today.

The SSA alert, which includes photographs, confirms that there were two perpetrators, both fully covered with clothing, hats, and masks. They accessed the rear yard of the property from the front lawn, and began their entry into the back door of the home. From video footage, we can see that the two perpetrators fled when the homeowner encountered them and yelled “police!.”

According to SSA, these same two suspects attempted to enter a home at an unidentified address on Norton two days earlier, by jumping over a fence or gate. Again, the resident encountered them, yelled, and they fled. SSA reports that a black minivan with dark windows was seen on the street during the Plymouth incident. It is not currently known whether this minivan is related to the attempted break-in.

Let’s continue to harden the target Windsor Square. Please continue to watch out for one another. Please alert the LAPD and your neighbors if you witness suspicious activity, such as fully covered (clothed, hatted, masked) individuals venturing into a neighbor’s yard, as occurred here. Let’s stay safe neighbors.”
