BevMo! Now Open at La Brea and Wilshire

BevMo! store manager Vicente Mendoza cuts the ribbon officially opening the chain’s newest store at Wilshire and La Brea on Thursday evening

BevMo! opened its newest location at the La Brea and Wilshire Blvds in the Essex Building at 5212 W. Wilshire Blvd. The new store was christened with champagne ceremoniously opened with a saber by Jeff Ellis, BevMo! regional manager for San Diego and Orange County.  Store manager Vicente Mendoza cut the ribbon Thursday evening with members of the Miracle Mile Chamber of Commerce on hand to welcome the store to the neighborhood.

“BevMo! came to the Miracle Mile Chamber looking for sponsorship opportunities really showing their interest in the community,” said Meg McComb, Executive Director.

“Miracle Mile is growing and developing and we want to be part of that,” said Mile Dea, BevMo! District Manager for Los Angeles, who also noted they have two other stores relatively close but really wanted to be at La Brea and Wilshire.

In a nod to neighborhood history, BevMo! has framed several large historic photos showing the intersection of La Brea and Wilshire in the 1920s.

BevMo! worked with the Sycamore Square Neighborhood Association to develop guidelines for operation that addressed neighbors’ concerns about hours of operation and sales of single servings of alcohol. The agreed upon conditions can be found here.

Open in time for the holiday party season, the new store is more than 6,000 square feet and contains over 1,600 different wines, 1,000 beers and a 1,300 different types of spirits, including hard-to-find small distilleries, many of which are featured in frequent tastings offered in the store. BevMo! will deliver free for any orders over $500. They also offering $10 off on your next if you order if you download the store app.

Lastly, in case you are wondering, there’s plenty of parking in the underground garage shared with Lassen’s grocery…and BevMo! validates, offering free parking for one hour. The best way to enter the garage is from Sycamore Avenue.
