Beware Street Closures for Sunday’s Los Angeles Marathon

marathonmap2016

The convergence of Valentine’s Day and the Los Angeles Marathon this year brings together two fun events…but it could also cause some problems for area residents heading to points north for holiday brunches, visits or other activities.

The marathon route this year stretches from Dodger Stadium to Santa Monica, mostly along Sunset and Hollywood Blvds. in the mid-town section, so it travelling within our neighborhoods shouldn’t be a problem…but you might want to avoid heading north of those streets until later in the day.

The full list of street closures, along with maps, closure times and information about crossing points for specific streets and intersections, is available on the Marathon website.  Here are those most relevant to Buzz territory:

Sunset Blvd. from Echo Park Ave. to Virgil Ave – 4:00AM to 11:10AM
Hollywood Blvd. from Hillhurst Ave. to La Brea – 4:00AM to 12 Noon
Orange Dr. from Hollywood Blvd. to Sunset Blvd. – 4:00AM to 12 Noon
Sunset Blvd. from Highland Ave. to Doheny Dr. –  5:00AM to 12:45PM
San Vicente Blvd. from Sunset Blvd. to Melrose Ave. –  5:00AM 1:00PM
Santa Monica Blvd. from La Cienega Blvd. to Sierra Dr. –  5:00AM 1:00PM

If you’re venturing further east or west, be sure to check the full closure information at the links above.
