Burglary on 300 Block of S. McCadden

Crime-2

A guest house in the 300 block of S. McCadden in Hancock Park was burglarized at approximately 4:20 this morning, and “small electronics and multiple checkbooks” were stolen.  The homeowners, who have reported the burglary to LAPD, say the thief was “pretty bold,” since the driveway was well lit from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m., and it was one of the few times the owners neglected to set the burglar alarm on the building.

As we reported earlier this week, property crimes are up in our neighborhood lately, so be careful to “harden the targets” by locking both houses and vehicles, leave valuables out of sight, and use alarm systems if you have them. If a break-in or theft does occur, no matter how small, be sure to report it to LAPD, to ensure they have an accurate picture of criminal activity in the neighborhood.

Update at 12:01 p.m. – The Buzz has now learned there were two confirmed guest house break-ins, and a car break-in, on this same block this morning. We’ll provide more details as they become known.
