Car Crash Floods Trader Joe’s at 3rd & La Brea – Store Closed Today

Frame from the KCBS-TV coverage of the dramatic and watery aftermath of a car crash at 3rd and La Brea early this morning.

Thanks to the Miracle Mile Residential Association for alerting us to this dramatic report from KCBS-TV, showing the aftermath of a multi-car crash at 3rd and La Brea early this morning.  The collision, in which – thankfully – no one was seriously injured, broke a fire hydrant, caused a huge geyser, and flooded the Trader Joe’s market at the NW corner of the intersection.

According to KCBS, “The crash at the intersection of La Brea and Third streets happened at about 1:15 a.m. One car was found overturned up against the grocery store, as a sheared hydrant sent a geyser of water several stories high into the sky.”

A phone call to the store this morning confirmed that it is still closed today, and asked when they will re-open, the response was “We don’t know, but for sure not today.”
