Car Hits Gas Meter at Wilshire and Mansfield

Around 9 p.m. last night, a car apparently hit and ruptured a gas meter near Wilshire and Mansfield.  A neighbor from Sycamore Square sent us the photo above, and noted that gas fumes were definitely in the air after the crash.

According to SoCalGas spokesperson Christine Detz this morning, gas company crews “completed permanent repairs to the damaged natural gas meter around 1:00 a.m. today. The accident resulted in the temporary outage of about 36 customers and crews are in the process of restoring service to those impacted.”

Nothing else is known, at this point, about the incident.
