Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s LA Connections

Curbed LA map of places visited by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on his visits to Los Angeles

In honor of the 50th anniversary of the death of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this week, Curbed LA published a very cool map featuring places where Dr. King spoke or visited during his numerous trips to Los Angeles in the 1950s and ’60s, before his death on April 4, 1968.

The locations are as diverse as the city, according to Curbed LA:

Martin Luther King Jr. is inextricably tied to the South. But the civil rights legend was also a frequent visitor to Southern California, where he spoke in settings that reached all segments of the region: private fundraisers with movie stars and college students. African-American churches and synagogues. LAX press conferences and community groups.

We thought it was very cool, check it out.
