A new farmers market is coming to the neighborhood this weekend. Sweetgreen restaurant, 180 S. La Brea, has teamed up with Raw Inspiration and California Certified Farmers Markets to bring a farmers market to Citrus Square on Saturdays. The market will take place in Sweetgreen’s parking lot at 2nd Street and La Brea.
This Saturday, from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m., Sweetgreen is hosting a festive launch of the market, with appearances from the Wine / Lounge Garden with Helen’s Wine; DIY Floral Bar, live music + DJ sets from HAIM, Them Jeans and Dana Boulos…along with tastings of mini Sweetgreen salad bowls.
The full market will launch July 28 and will feature about 35 vendors offering produce, meats, dairy, and other products. The Sweetgreen La Brea farmers market will be a smaller version of the Larchmont Farmers Market, which is held on Sundays on Larchmont Blvd., according to Melissa Farwell, of the California Certified Farmers Market, whose organization (along with Raw Inspiration) produces the Larchmont market and a number of others in the city.
Sweetgreen’s spokeswoman told the Buzz that she hopes the market “serves as another means through which we’re aiming to invest in the Angeleno community and reinforce shopping and eating locally.”
The new La Brea Farmers Market will be located in the Sweetgreen La Brea parking lot every Saturday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., starting this weekend.
