At 11:23 yesterday morning, the Los Angeles Fire Department received an alert of a fire at a vacant home at 4847 W. Oakwood Ave., just east of Wilton.  “Heavy fire,” extending from the main floor into the attic, was reported (and can be seen in the photo above and videos below).  Thankfully, LAFD crews were able to extinguish the blaze in just 16 minutes.

According to the LAFD, no injuries were reported and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

Real estate records show the approximately 1,500 square foot, 2-bedroom home was sold in a probate sale in July, 2016, and later that month applications were submitted for permits to grade the lot and construct a new 4-story, 49-unit apartment building on this and adjoining properties.  An application for a demolition permit was filed on September 20. (Note: according to city records, neither the demolition nor construction permits have been issued yet.)

Buzz reader Eileen Lanza, a local realtor who was touring properties in the area yesterday morning, saw the smoke, captured the videos above and photos below, and shared them with us.
