The May 1 elections for the Greater Wilshire Neighborhood  Council are just around the corner, so this is a great time to get to know the candidates running to represent your neighborhood.
There are a total of 41 candidates running for the 21 GWNC Board seats, representing 15 different neighborhoods in the Greater Wilshire area, along with six specific special interest categories. Â Anyone who lives, works or owns property in the Greater Wilshire area (see map), is eligible to vote for up to two seats – the geographic area in which you live, work or own property, and one of the special interest categories (At Large, Business, Education, Religion, Renters, or Other Non-Profit). Â
For an up-close-and-personal chance to meet and greet the candidates for your area or special interest category, and to have a chance to talk with them personally, the GWNC is holding an informal “Meet the Candidates” forum this coming Sunday, April 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Robert Burns Park (4900 Beverly Blvd.). Actor and activist Ann-Marie Johnson will moderate the event, where each candidate will have up to four minutes to present a personal statement, with time afterward for more informal conversation.  Refreshments will be provided.
The GWNC elections will be held on Sunday, May 1, from 12 to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of the Barking Lot pet store, 366 N. Larchmont Blvd.
