At its monthly Board meeting last night, the Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council honored Diane Dicksteen, president of the Windsor Village Association, with its Citizen Recognition Award for her long years of service to the neighborhood. Â Dicksteen, who was born in Scotland and has lived in Los Angeles since the 1970s, volunteers with the Los Angeles Zoo and the GWNC’s Outreach Committee in addition to her duties in Windsor Village, which she calls “the best” in the city.
In other business last night, the Board discussed plans to hold a Candidate Forum and recruit election day poll workers for its upcoming elections on Sunday, May 1…and voted to support several local land use projects recommended by the GWNC Land Use Committee at its last meeting.
Gaining final board support last night were an 88-unit apartment building at 501-543 N. Wilton (a project that has been under discussion and negotiations with neighbors, the Larchmont Village Neighborhood Association and the GWNC Land Use Committee for several months), and an application for the renewal of a liquor permit, change of use to allow additional mezzanine seating and a new parking variance for the Osteria La Buca restaurant at 5210 Melrose Blvd.
In addition, the Board approved sets of comments to be submitted to the City on its proposed revisions to the Baseline Mansionization Ordinance, and Small Lot Subdivision Ordinance, and voted to support temporary emergency shelter measures for the homeless during the current El Niño season.
The next GWNC Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Anderson-Munger YMCA (note the one-time change in both time and venue for next month’s meeting).
