Senior Lead Officer Joe Pelayo sent out the following alert late Monday afternoon.
A home invasion robbery occurred Monday morning on the 500 block of South Bronson in Windsor Square between the hours of 8am and 8:30am. Two teenagers were at home when the suspect kicked in the locked rear door to the residence. Â The teenagers were able to hide and notify police.
The suspect ransacked the home and armed himself with a revolver he found in the house. The teenagers were able to run out of the house as this happened. No one was injured. The suspect left the location in an unknown location with the victim’s property.
The suspect was described as a male Black in his twenties, 510 , 160 lbs, brown hair, unknown color eyes. The suspect was wearing a green hoodie and dark pants.
According to Officer Pelayo, the home alarm was not turned on.
“Residents are reminded to please use their alarms if you have one and call 911 if you ever hear or see anything suspicious at your home,” said Pelayo. Â “Please report any persons matching this description or suspicious person or activity to the police immediately.”

So the house was occupied by its residents, and Officer Pelayo claims that they should have had their alarm turned on? I don’t get it. I thought you turned the alarm on when you left the house. Maybe it’s some different kind of alarm that can tell the difference between intruders and residents. Can someone clarify for me?
I hate to hear the victim blamed.
Officer Pelayo told the Buzz, “My recommendation is to have alarms set, especially at night. No where in my Alert is the victim being blame for anything. All safety recommendations are based on experience and knowledge of these type crimes and how they happen.”
