LA Tennis Club Juniors Battle

LA Tennis Club Juniors Open 2 Team Defeats fellow LATC Juniors for Winter Junior title. Pictured in the photo (Left to right): Tommy Hays, Michael James, Chris Tanquary, Dillon Kneafsey, Charlie, Carrington,  Kyle Bracco,  Diego Marin,  Colin Kneafsey,  Max Kim,  and Henry Slan.  Not Pictured, unavailable for match: Sydney Brown.

Junior tennis players from Los Angeles Tennis Club teams battled it out earlier this month. The two teams found themselves playing each other for the Westside Junior  Championships winter title. Not surprisingly, the older, more seasoned, LATC Open 2 Team, coached by Godwin Omuta prevailed but it was a great day for junior tennis.  Open 2 Team members include: Charlie Carrington, Kyle Bracco, Sydney Brown, Michael James, Dillon and Colin Kneafsey, Chris Tanquary, Henry Slan, Max Kim, Diego Marin and Tommy Hays.

Congratulations to Coach Omuta, a former touring professional and member of the Davis Cup Team representing Nigeria, who has been a teaching pro at LATC for over 13 years and has lead the team to dozens of victories.

Up and comers, LATC Open 1 Team, is coached by Melissa Nguyen, who grew up playing at LATC under the tutelage of LATC’s Bruce Foxworth.  Keep an eye on these junior players, you  just might hear about one of these young players on the professional tour on of these days.  If you’ve got a budding young tennis player who is home on spring break this week, they can sign up for the LATC’s Spring Break Camp for Juniors which started today and runs through the end of the week. Non-members are welcome to sign up. Contact [email protected] or 323-464-3195 x0 for more information.
