Members of LAPD’s Wilshire Community Police Station (4861 W. Venice Blvd.) invite you to join them tonight, Wednesday, May 11, from 6 to 8 p.m., for “Days Of Dialogue on The Future of Policing,” one of a year-long series of public discussions being held around the city to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Watts Rebellion. The effort aims to create “constructive civic engagement around the difficult issue of police violence.” Participants will “share their perspectives on how to rebuild trust between community and law enforcement in a time when nearly every week we hear another story of a violent clash,” with the goal of creating positive changes in city and police policies.
What is Dialogue?Â
Dialogue is discussion that aims to go beyond any one individual’s understanding. In dialogue, participants speak their own minds, while implicitly acknowledging that their assumptions could be wrong and that other people may legitimately hold differing opinions.
What does Days of Dialogue do?
Days of Dialogue works with various host organizations to design and conduct facilitated dialogues on often-sensitive or contentious topics of interest to the organization or community. Dialogue planning can be initiated by host organizations or other interested parties.
