The Larchmont Village Business Improvement District reports this morning that local business owner and BID member Albert Mizrahi passed away on Friday, August 12, after a long illness.
Mizrahi was the owner of the Larchmont Bungalow, which is currently on probation in an ongoing court case with the city over permitting and occupancy issues. (The next hearing in the case is currently scheduled for tomorrow.)  Mizrahi also owned Hardwear, the Library, and other Larchmont Blvd. buildings, including the one that houses Sam’s Bagels.  According to the BID’s announcement, Mizrahi’s son Michael Mizrahi, who has been a partner in several of the above-mentioned ventures, will take over his father’s interests on the street.
Bless his memory and the family as they move forward. After all these years is would seem appropriate to let the lovely Larchmont Bungalow stay open in his memory. After all, there’s more than enough food business to go around on the boulevard! I never really understood why the city would tell him that such a large restaurant space could only be used for carry out. That makes no sense! Maybe this sad situation can finally go away.
