Larchmont Family Fair

Larchmont Family Fair in full fun despite overcast skies

Despite morning drizzle and generally overcast skies, lots of neighbors attended the annual Larchmont Family Fair on Sunday. Organizers staged all the booths at the south of the end of the street, reserving the north end for rides including a giant slide that took up much for the street.

The pony ride, the petting zoo and the camel rides were again part of the fair and a handful of protestors walked along the camel pen as the animals were carrying children around the pen. Protest organizer Lee Goldberg told the Buzz that several people spontaneously joined the protest. Suzanne Phillips, an organizer of the Fair in the past, told the Buzz she was certain the animals were well cared for and didn’t consider the protest appropriate. Others we talked to seemed to appreciate the polite dissent and thought the protest raised awareness of animal exhibits.

Congratulations to Charlie Mobasser of June Street who won the talent contest and Kerri Moran and her daughter Taylor Martinez who won the pie-baking contest. The Buzz is still tracking the down winners of the Costume and Pie-Eating Contest but we will update when we have the winners!
