Visitors to Larchmont Blvd. may have noticed that the municipal parking lot on the west side of the street was closed this morning. A city contractor at the site told the Buzz that environmental testing was being done for the new park proposed for the southern edge of the lot. (The park plans have recently been progressing with the city, with oversight of the lot and funding for it recently transferred to the Bureau of Recreation and Parks.)
According to the on-site worker, the testing would be completed, and the lot open again, by late morning.
I can’t believe that they are going to take all those parking spaces away to put in a park! . Parking is hard enough on Larchmont without taking spaces away for an unneeded park. Say it ain’t so, Joe!
The park is a pocket park, and will only take six parking spaces at the south end of the lot. The rest of the lot will remain as is.
