LATC Juniors Win Again!

LATC Spring 2017 Open 2 Team (l-r) Tommy Hays, Kyle Bracco, John Miller, Sydney Brown, Chris Tanquary, Dillon Kneafsey and Coach LATC Professional Godwin Omuta

The Open 2 Team of junior tennis players from Los Angeles Tennis Club have won their division again. The Spring Open 2 team included local players Charlie Carrington, Kyle Bracco, Sydney Brown,  James Greer, Tommy Hays, Dillon Kneafsey, Michael James, John Miller and Chris Tanquary.

Tommy Hays, Coach Omuta and Kyle Bracco savor the moment.

“The program is fantastic,” said parent and LATC member Jamie Bracco who sent photos to the Buzz. “Omuta is a great coach. Most of the kids have been playing together at LATC for years. It has been fun seeing them grow into real tennis players together.”

The competitive leagues take the summer off, but there’s lots of tennis for kids at the historic LATC.

Tennis Day Camp for Juniors ages 6-16 started last week and runs through August 25.  The LATC camp offers 11 sessions throughout the summer for kids of all skill levels, from introductory level to advanced play, from basic fundamentals and simple drills to match play that will enhance their athleticism, stamina and competitive drive. Kids have a swim session in the heat of the day to unwind and cool off, and time to socialize at lunch, either packed in or purchased on site from the club’s restaurant.

Day camp options include Full Day sessions, 9am – 3pm, Monday through Friday, or Half Day sessions 9am-12pm or 12-3pm. One can sign up by the WEEK or by the DAY, giving parents plenty of opportunity to work around family vacations and summer school. Walk-ins are welcome. We are told there’s almost always a space. Camp is open to both LATC members and non-members. Tennis attire is required (does not have to be all white but non-marking shoes are a must).

Visit the LATC website for an application and more information on the tennis camp.
